Spanish teacher John West challenges English teacher Rob Ross during the arm wrestling competition, with West coming out victorious.

Crowds of students and teachers rushed into the gymnasium during homeroom on March 21 to watch the arm wrestling tournament for Homeroom Olympics. A girls’ table, a female teacher’s’ table, a boys’ table, and a male teacher’s’ table were set up in the middle of the gym where participants challenged each other. The MC’s for the event were junior Bo Templin and freshmen Camryn Hoffman and Amber Berliner. Over 30 homerooms participated, including a dozen teachers.

French teacher Rebecca Travis defeated science teacher Jennifer McCluan, photography teacher Cheryl Coppock defeated special education teacher Hanni Dotson, art teacher Kajsa Medak defeated science teacher Cathy Ramos, math teacher Amy Johnson defeated science teacher Jocelyn Broemmelsiek, science teacher Michael Santos defeated history teacher Kevin Witt, and Spanish teacher John West defeated English teacher Rob Ross.

The longest and final battle was seniors Eunice Velazquez and Sam Hodges, with Velazquez winning.

The semi-finals and finals will be on Monday, March 24, during homeroom in the gymnasium. “Although my homeroom is out, I can’t wait to see who eventually wins,” said senior Zane Hendig.
