SDA Cross Country Competes in North County Conference Championships

Placing fifth in both the girls and boys race, the Mustangs put out a great effort to end their last league race at the North County Conference Championships at Kit Carson Park
Finishing first for the Mustangs in the boys race was junior Conner Edwards who placed 12th overall with a time of 17:22. Trailing close behind him was senior Connor Oldham who crossed the finish line in 18th place in 17:41.Third for the Mustangs was sophomore Spencer Goldstein, who earned 20th place after finishing only five seconds behind Oldham.
Leading the pack for the Mustangs in the girl’s race was senior Sarah LaVake, who finished in 33rd place with a time of 21:38. Senior Josie Lieber and junior Lanie Weingarten crossed the finish line shortly after with a small one second gap between the two. Lieber and Weingarten earned 36th and 37th place with times of 21:46 and 21:47 respectively.
Over three miles of winding dirt paths and tedious hills challenged many SDA athletes who raced with the hopes of qualifying for the San Diego CIF Championships. Six schools participated in the conference championships. Seven boys and girls from SDA have qualified for the CIF meet and will compete Saturday Nov. 18 at the Morley Field Sports Complex.
