Can The Texans Bump Brady Out Of Another Super Bowl Win?

January 11, 2017

The Houston Texans are hot off of a wildcard round playoff win, but will it be enough to overcome Tom Brady and his four Super Bowl rings?
The Texans won their previous playoff game against the Oakland Raiders through a commanding 27-14 victory; their defense looked as dominant as ever. Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney had a stellar play early on, where he tipped a pass and caught the deflection for an interception which helped swing the momentum heavily in Houston’s favor.
Quarterback Brock Osweiler also had a big game when they needed him most. He only threw for 168 yards and one touchdown, but he didn’t turn the ball over and stayed composed throughout the game which was enough to secure the Texans win.
However, this weekend the Texans will need more than an average performance to come out on top. They face the number one seeded New England Patriots who have Tom Brady, a man who is considered by some to be the greatest quarterback of all time. The Patriots are without key player tight end Rob Gronkowski, but ever since losing him in early December they have played exceptional football regardless.
The game will take place this Saturday at 5:15 P.M. in New England. The Texans played their first game at home, so visiting the cold state of Massachusetts should affect how they play.
Very few give Houston a chance, as spread for the game has New England favorites by 16 points. They are one of the biggest favorites in playoff history, but I don’t think that it will be as big of a blowout as some predict. It’s extremely hard to say the Texans will win the game, but I believe they will be able to put up a formidable fight.
One key factor to this game will be how the Texans offense will be able to perform against the above average New England defense. Osweiler has been unpredictable all year and if he can show up on the big stage I predict Houston will surprise a lot of people.
It’s also very important to note experience, as the Patriots have been Super Bowl super bowl contenders for nearly a decade and the Texans have never made it past the Divisional round. Brady’s four Super Bowl super bowl rings definitely makes one believe he will handle the inexperienced Texans with ease.
