What was considered the most important water polo game of the season so far brought in lots of enthusiastic fans from both SDA and LCC to Alga Norte yesterday. People of all ages were present, flaunting spiritwear for their schools.
In the first quarter, LCC took an early lead by rapidly scoring three goals. Those were followed by two goals for SDA by juniors Kekoa Wheeler and Max Van Loan.
Shortly after the first quarter ended, Manny the Mustang mascot showed up to pump up the fans and cheer on the players.
In the second quarter, sophomore Matheus Gensler, junior Wesley Tyler and senior Sam Dumont scored, bringing up SDA’s score to five. Nonetheless, LCC remained in the lead.
During the third and fourth quarter, Dumont scored three more times and Gensler scored twice, bringing the final score of the game to 10-13 with LCC taking the win.
Over the course of the game, senior and goalie Connor Dahl made five saves, and the crowd’s enthusiasm continued to grow. Manny the Mustang was even interviewed by San Diego Prep Insider during their coverage of their game, featured along with girls field hockey and volleyball in the video.
I can probably relate.
