Crack Open the History Books

On an April 13 evening that was blinded by the supernova known as Kobe Bryant’s storybook career ending, history was shattered at the hands of the Golden State Warriors on the opposite side of California.

Even a record set by the ‘95-’96 Chicago Bulls, pioneered by Michael Jordan, was not too high for the Oakland team to reach. And with no further evidence needed than the eclipsed game, coach Steve Kerr led his team to a victory spotted with positive ramifications.

Not only was it another superb performance tacked onto an illustrious year for team captain Stephen Curry, the triumph also capped off what was destined to be a season of shattered standards. No time was that made more obvious than their latest win as they clinched a spot in history.

The aforementioned exhibition just so happened to be the conclusion of the NBA regular season, in which the Warriors entered with 72 wins and nine losses. Win or lose, the team had already secured their position as the number one seed in the post-season, so this finale held not an ounce of significance if it wasn’t for one fact.

The record-holding Bulls finished their season with 72 wins and 10 losses.

The future of Golden State was not hanging in the balance; only reminiscing of the past swarmed the atmosphere. Thousands of supporters packed the Oracle Arena in Oakland, prepared to see what history their team may make.

3.. 2.. 1.. Buzz!

Detailing the game would be a circle of redundant information that doesn’t even require the lightest of gracing over. To put it as simply as possible, the Warriors commanded the court through all four quarters of playtime without a single interval of change. And, as forecasted, the fan-dubbed “greatest team of all time” picked up win number 73.

Quick to leap into judgment, a storm of insight has rained down upon the superior group from all ends of the spectrum. However, as the clouds of doubt part to allow a well-deserved shine, the question remains… Can the Golden State Warriors be in the conversation of the greatest team?

And at this juncture, the only remedy that can be dealt is that time will tell. But, as opposed to living in the moment, they must now advance into the playoffs with hopes of capturing the championship on consecutive years.

If April 13 was any indication, their chances of doing so are fairly robust.
