Panther Defeat
To the dismay of my credibility as a sports writer, the Denver Broncos easily defeated the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 to become the world champions of the 2015-16 season.
Although many predicted a competitive game or a Panthers win, including myself, no one gave the Broncos any chance with their out of form offense. I personally thought the Panthers defense would easily contain quarterback Peyton Manning and the Broncos offense which actually turned out to be the case. Nonetheless, I also anticipated the Panthers offenses led by league MVP Cam Newton to be able produce points against the top ranked Broncos defense.
Clearly, I was wrong. It might have been my remaining anger fueled by the Broncos defeating the New England Patriots that led to my prediction of the Panthers dominating the Broncos. I will admit I was in a way was rooting for the Panthers despite having absolutely no connection to them.
However, I truly believed that the Panthers would easily win but super bowl MVP and pro bowl Broncos linebacker, Von MIller made sure that this would not happen. Miller constantly put pressure on Newton and forced a fumble that led to a Broncos defensive touchdown.
Meanwhile, the Panthers offense struggled to find any rhythm throughout the entire game which resulted in the Broncos 24-10 victory. The inability of Newton to get his typically high powered offense in form was very surprising and left the game in the hands of their defense. However, the plays of Miller set up great field position for the Broncos offense which, although not dominant, was able to take advantage of and put enough points up on the board. Ultimately, my rash prediction doubted the Broncos which turned out to be a big mistake as the unexpected came to reality.
