Boys’ Soccer SDA vs University City
The San Dieguito Academy boys soccer team won its first home game of the season 5-2 against the University City Centurions Wednesday.
The Mustangs started out strong, scoring four goals in the first half and held University City at zero. Senior Owen Ereso and junior Jonathon Sabouri began the half with alternating goals. Back to back within 45 minutes Ereso scored, then Sabouri, then Ereso, then back to Sabouri.
Every time the Mustangs went on offense, they scored, and with a strong defense, they stopped the Centurions. The half came to an end with the Mustangs in a huge lead and a win in sight.
The second half began with the Mustang coach giving all the players a turn on the field. The game then started going back and forth. University City started out the half with a goal. The rest of the half went by without much action until the clock reached 10 minutes to the end.
With little time left, the Mustangs got a free kick just outside the box. Senior Kadyn Kim took the kick and junior Lucas Villicich scored an incredible header goal. After the goal, the Mustangs played a lot of defense.
The Centurions were able to score one more goal in the last two minutes off of a corner kick.
The Mustangs next game is on Tuesday Dec. 8, against Cathedral Catholic. JVB plays at 3:30, JV plays at 5 p.m. and Varsity plays at 7.
