SDA Boys Lacrosse Senior Night
With the perfect end to a successful season, the SDA Boys Varsity Lacrosse team went out with a bang to conclude their year. On a memorable Senior Night, the lacrosse team honored their five graduating seniors with a 14-0 win over Southwest High School.
The Mustangs dominated the offense, keeping possession for almost the entire match. Southwest defenders could do nothing to stop the quick ball movement and deadeye shots from outside the goal.
Parents and students started to fill the stands as the boys took a quick 2-0 lead sparked by goals from seniors Kevin Gallagher and Jared Holguin. Holguin, who had a game-high 7 goals, took control early and never let up on the gas pedal, leading San Dieguito to a nice 6-0 halftime lead.
The Senior Ceremony took place at halftime, and all five graduating seniors stood with their teammates and families. The team will be graduating Gallagher, Holguin, Christopher Still, Troy Pasko, and Kevin Moody this year, but have a big line of returning players to fill the shoes of the leaders that made strides for this program.
As the third quarter began, the Mustangs pushed a 7-0 lead with goals by sophomores Ben Jennings and Andrew Peterson, freshman Brian Gallagher, and Holguin, again. With the third quarter ending, the Mustangs had the game in the bag as Southwest struggled to make a comeback.
Peterson put it away for good with one last goal in the final quarter and secured the win for the Mustangs, with the final score 14-0.
