Thanksgiving is a delightful holiday to gather with loved ones such as family and friends and express your gratitude towards one another while eating delicious food. There is a wide variety of food that you can enjoy on this festive holiday. With Thanksgiving coming up, here is our hot take on the many different Thanksgiving foods to enjoy this holiday season.
The most traditional Thanksgiving dish, turkey, was featured in what is commonly referred to as “the first Thanksgiving”. Turkey has a unique and savory flavor and the taste can vary depending on how it is seasoned and cooked. For many, turkey is the center of the meal, although there are some others who find it underwhelming. For us, we see turkey as a key element to a full Thanksgiving feast.
Other dishes that are a great side to turkey include mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and stuffing. Each one of these sides is a very yummy addition to a well-rounded Thanksgiving meal. They complement the flavors of the turkey and add variety to the meal. Starting off, mashed potatoes are creamy and delicious, while the green bean casserole is crisp because of the green beans with fried onions. Then there is stuffing, which is made with bread, herbs, and other ingredients that you can enjoy with your turkey. Or just eat it plain since it’s so delicious! Our personal favorite part of the array would be the caramelized sweet potatoes, with a mix of sweet and savory flavors that just melt in your mouth.
Moving onto dessert, a nice sweet treat like pumpkin or apple pie with some ice cream on top is the most common and delicious choice to finish your Thanksgiving meal. The warm taste of fruit and buttery crust, with the sweet, cold, creamy ice cream makes for the best mix of flavors. Our personal favorite pie is apple crumble, and we enjoy eating a slice after our salty and savory Thanksgiving meal. There are other desserts besides pie that are commonly enjoyed, like apple turnovers which are similar to apple crisp pies but in our opinion much better because they are crisper on the outside similar to a croissant.
Thanksgiving is an amazing holiday to spend with the people you love most and celebrate how grateful you are for them. Thanksgiving food brings people together and makes us all appreciate what we have. HAPPY TURKEY DAY MUSTANGS!
