Mustang Musings: Crayon Colors
The Mustang is bringing the SDA student body back to Kindergarten, back when writing something on their wall didn’t refer to Facebook, but to the waxy coloring tool that got kids in trouble for using on the blank canvas that is their bedroom wall. Journalism staff asked students to imagine themselves as any crayon color, and to share what that may be. Answers ranged from a simple color, such as blue for sereneness or red for passion, to more outlandish choices such as Razzmatazz or Chartreuse.
“[I would be] pink because it makes me smile and reminds me of happiness and sparkles. My whole room and everything in it is pink; it would be a dream of mine to BE the color.” – Junior Becca Bland
“I would be Robin Egg Blue, because it’s the coolest crayon color I’ve heard of, and it sounds pretty.” – Senior Janine Fischer
“I would be brown because when I was younger my cousin and I would always draw people and she would draw them with blue eyes and I would get mad at her because I used to think everyone liked blue eyes better. I have brown eyes so I was sort of a civil rights advocate for us brown eyed people at that age.” – Junior Karina Langli
“[I would be] green because it’s my favorite color… and grass is pretty nice!” – Senior Abby Novack
“I would be a red crayon because red is a passionate color, and I’m a very passionate person.” – Senior Kelsey Payne

“I would be razzmatazz because not a lot of people are familiar with the color, and of course, because it’s pretty.” – Senior Taylor Johnson
“I would be blue because it’s the color of the ocean.” – Senior Brittany Adams
“I would be popcorn buttery yellow because it’s a mellow and upbeat color.” – Senior Adira Fogel

“[If I was a crayon color, I would be] that forest-green color, because of the ‘Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared’ video. Or red, because it’s my favorite color.” – Senior Lance Johnson
“ Dark Sunset Orange, because it’s vibrant, energetic, and only visible once a day.” – Junior Chris Schenkhuizen
“ Razzmatazz, because it’s crazy and silly. And because it’s red with a weird name, and I feel like that’s me.” – Senior Peri Lyn Anderson
“White, because it would never be used.” – Freshman Lucas Hendricks
“Blue because it’s the color of the ocean and the sky and because then I could be both.” – Sophomore Bryant Garcia

“I would be one of those huge, multi-colored crayons, because they’ve got every color you would ever need in one crazy swirly pattern, so that’s kinda cool.” – Senior Irena Weaver
“If I was a crayon I’d be a pink marker in a boy’s crayon box. That way I’d never be used and have a long life.” – Senior Armon Ashtiani-Eismann
“Black, like my soul.” – Junior Tenley Feinberg
“I would be lavender because purple is an awesome color, but light purple goes with things better. I’d be able to compliment other crayons.” – Senior Nicole Loya
“I’d be turquoise because no one’s really sure if it’s blue or green, and I like to confuse people.” – Senior Eli Brown
