Through the Eyes of an Austrian

This weekend was really great because I was able to do many things. Saturday was a spooky day for my host sister and me because it was the last weekend before Halloween. I am very excited for Halloween because in Austria it isn’t considered a big deal and we don’t usually celebrate it, so I am excited to see what people in the United States do to celebrate.

Before all of the spooky activities on Saturday we drove to San Diego and visited the Balboa Park and it was very beautiful. After that we went to In-n-Out for lunch because we don’t have it in Austria.  It has become many of the Austrian students’ favorite food place and I am going to miss it.

After lunch we went to Mission Bay to explore and it was so much fun. First I tried the kayak and then I tried the paddle board. It was a fun experience because I have not tried either before coming to the United States.

We then went home and watched three  scary movies. We watched “Evil Dead,”  “The Purge” and Mama” and I liked them all because they were very scary. Later that night, we left and drove to San Diego to the Haunted Trails in Balboa Park.

It was very crowded and we had to wait more than an hour in line, but it was worth it. I had such a great time.

On Sunday I went shopping with Dorian and his host mother because my host sister, senior Mycah Ayala, had to work and do college applications. We went to the Bazar and some other little shops. Afterwards we went into the Meditation garden which was really beautiful and which Dorian’s host mother really wanted to show us.

That was my weekend and I am excited for other fun things that I get to do this week.
