With a new year comes new beginnings and a chance to start over and make changes in your life. SDA students took this oppurtunity to improve their lives with their resolutions:
“I want to get better at mediating. I want to get better at focusing myself. I want to be focused and balanced for college.” -Senior Domenica Berman
“I want to get back in shape. If not, track isn’t going to be fun.”-Junior Craig Spiller
“I didn’t have any resolutions. I view them as pointless.” -Senior Miche’le Bullington
“My New Year’s resolution is to stop cussing because you sound stupid, trashy, and it just sounds really ugly. I hope to achieve it and I’m going to try to.” -Junior Ashley Filler
“My resolution is to do better in school, so I can achieve success. I’ll probably try to keep it.”-Freshman José Balderas
“My New Year’s resolution is to get into the Master’s League [in Starcraft]. I want to beat Grifen Buck. I’m going to need to beat a lot of people. That’s not gonna happen. I physically cannot move the mouse and click that fast.” -Senior Riley Deghionno
“I want to run more, because I want to be in shape for track in the spring. I’ll probably succeed by being on the track team and being yelled at if I don’t run fast.” -Senior Perri Callaway
“My resolution is to get more exercise, because I can’t even run a mile under 10 minutes. Yeah, I think I’ll succeed. I’ll get a gym membership.” -Senior Sam Varney
“My New Year’s resolution is to get in shape, because it would be good for me! Today is my first day of going to the gym, so we’ll see if I keep it.” -Junior Arin Mallin
“I want to do 80 sit ups a day because I don’t really exercise. I don’t really think I’ll keep it because I’ve missed a couple days so far, but I pinch myself when I don’t do it.”-Senior Kira Harland
“To finally get a job, conquer senioritis, and ride a unicorn. Mostly in the interest of getting into college. I’ll keep them by blocking Facebook, and visiting thick forests?”-Senior Sammay Ness
“I want to spend less than 100 dollars a month till the end of July. I don’t see why I wouldn’t be able to keep it.”-Senior Or’el Anbar
“My New Year’s resolution is to get better grades because if I do well in school then I can get into a good college, get a good job, and live happily. I definitely will keep up this resolution by working hard, studying like crazy, getting a lot of sleep, and drinking lots of milk.”-Sophomore Olivia Lancaster
“I’m going to not drink soda for a month ‘cause I drink too much soda. I don’t think I’m going to keep this though.”-Freshman Tory Knowles
“My New Year’s resolution is to stop getting the babes because I have too many. I don’t think I can do this though, I can’t stay away from the babes. I’ll try to stop being so sexy.” -Senior Colin Noble
“I’m going to do my calc. homework, go to the gym, and pay my taxes. I feel like I would be a better person because I would have less legal trouble. I probably won’t end up paying my taxes and the IRS will come after me again, but I will do my calc. homework.”-Senior Austin Scott
“My New Year’s resolution is to be on time for school so that I’m not on the LOP list and can ask someone to formal…who wants a date?”-Senior Isabelle Morales
“I want to stay committed to my goals because I never follow through on things. I’m going to write out my goals and do all I can to achieve them.”-Senior Quincy Fell
“Floss my teeth, because I had two cavities at my last appointment and I hate when they floss my teeth at cleanings and it hurts and I bought handy dandy flossers [to keep the resolution]” -Junior Taylor Sills
“My resolution is to get my driver’s license so I get more freedom”-Junior Daniel Kim
“I really want to get back into shape and continue working out seven days a week.”- Sophomore Sierra Gallant
“I hope that I can continue to try to do the best I can in school.”- Sophomore Maria Lopez
“I hope this year I can become better at not procrastinating on everything and rather do things upfront.”-Junior Julia Arnold
“My resolution is to learn how to juggle. I’ve always wanted to but I’ve just never gotten around to it. I really want to learn and I’m going to start practicing a lot to reach my goal.”-Senior Brenda Salinas
“My resolution is to always pay with exact change. I hate how it accumulates and right now I have two huge baskets full of it at home. I get nervous that I’m taking too long and bothering the people behind me in line but I really want to stick with the resolution. I tried last year too but only lasted about three months. I’m trying to go longer this year. I just need to stay organized with my change so I can the exact amount quickly. I even got a new wallet with more pockets just for this.”-Senior Nikki Cohen
“My resolution is to make this year the best year ever before the world ends. What I mean is that I’m going to open up my mind and appreciate the small positive things and see the good in everything. I know I’m going to keep the resolution because it’s important to me and I know it makes you a happier person. I just need to laugh more, smile, and enjoy every moment.”-Senior Savannah Broderick
“[My New Year’s resolution is] to eat healthier and work out more. I want to try and be healthier, it’s good to be healthy. I want to see if I can stick with cutting out as much junk food as I can.”-Senior Erica Haynes
“[My New Year’s resolution is] to not procrastinate on everything, like homework. I always leave everything to the last minute and it gets really stressful so I thought I’d start out fresh this year. Hopefully [I will keep them] for at least the first couple months.” -Junior Aine Gallahue

“My New Year’s resolution is to run a half-marathon because I’ve always wanted to and I decided that I actually should this year. I plan on training a lot between now and then, and I’m definitely going to keep my resolution…unless I forget to sign up.”-Senior Maddie Holcomb
“I plan on eating fruits and vegetables this year. I don’t want to, but I need to. I don’t know if it’s going to actually work, but no regrets.”-Senior Nolan Gallagher
“I want to be able to run more than a lap. I had hip surgery last year and I haven’t been able to run yet. I hope I can keep my resolution because otherwise running will still hurt a lot. I plan on stretching a lot and going to physical therapy. Oh, and another resolution is not failing AP Euro.”-Senior Margo Taylor
“My New Year’s resolution was to not spend money on food because I buy ridiculous amounts of food with my hard earned money. I have broken it just now. Leave me to my shame.”-Senior Suki Berry

“My New Year’s resolution is to drink less diet coke because its not healthy. I think it will be hard to keep this resolution; however, I am going to try my very best. I plan to take all my Diet Coke out of my house so that I am not temped to drink it anymore.” -Senior Bianca Rice
“Our New Year’s resolution is to learn how to make friends because we are each other’s only friends. We are not sure how we are going to accomplish this goal, but we know that if we put our minds to it, that we can do it!” -Seniors Katie Guinn and Kyle Fincher
