Once again YouTube has been blocked on school computers. This terrible event occurred last Wednesday in the midst of 2nd period. I could have guessed this would happen because it isn’t the first time.
Despite the predictability of the situation it burns just the same. It’s as if I’m a starving dog trapped inside a kennel while a bone is being dangled in front of my cage. The liberty to explore the internet freely is displayed before me like a light at the end of a tunnel. Then the moiling darkness returns.
Already, I regret not spending more time on YouTube at school while that resource was available. The hours I used to research college applications and finish homework could have been spent on something more meaningful, such as perusing Lady Gaga’s latest music video or watching YouTube’s 40 minute interview with Taylor Swift.
Instead my heart’s been crushed with the painful removal of another liberty. As Adele sang on YouTube when I was lollygaging on the site yesterday, “We could have had it all.” Instead, we have nothing but educational sites.
