SDA signs the ‘No Place for Hate’ pledge
December 4, 2020
All San Dieguito Academy community members were encouraged to sign the No Place for Hate pledge on Google Slides during homeroom today.
The pledge states the following:
“I will seek to gain an understanding of those who are different from myself. I will speak out against prejudice and discrimination. I will reach out to support those who are targets of hate. I will promote respect for people and help foster a prejudice-free school. I believe that one person can make a difference–no person can be an “innocent” bystander when it comes to opposing hate. I recognize that respecting individual dignity and promoting inter-group harmony are the responsibilities of all students.”
According to the 2019 California Healthy Kids Survey, 1 in 4 SDA students reported that they were harassed or bullied at school based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, LGBTQ+ status, physical or mental disability, or immigrant status.
If you’d like to sign the pledge, contact your homeroom teacher to see if you could access and sign on the Google Slides.
