COVID friendly activities in Encinitas

How to spend your time in Encinitas through a pandemic

November 17, 2020

As of Saturday, Nov. 14, San Diego county has moved up to “purple tier” in COVID-19 cases, representing a drastic increase in coronavirus infection. What are the different levels of COVID-19 infections?

There are 4 different classifications organized by colors: yellow, orange, red, and purple. Yellow is the lowest level and represents a minimal spread, which slowly increases through the orange and red levels, reaching the most severe stage in the purple level, where we currently find ourselves.

Essentially, this means that indoor activities in restaurants, movie theaters, gyms, and places of worship must come to an end.

In these unprecedented times (how many times have you heard that phrase as of late?), it is important to stay safe, but also have fun and support some local businesses while you’re at it! Below are some ideas for fun and COVID-safe activities in or around Encinitas.

Activities

  • Visit a farmer’s market:
    • Leucadia farmer’s market
    • Solana beach farmer’s market
  • Drive-in concerts: The Del Mar Fairgrounds are having a “concerts in your car” series, so check them out here for more information.
  • Socially distant (and masked) get together with friends
    • Outdoor movie night
    • picnic (on the beach, at a park…)

Get outside and go for a hike! Some great ones are:

  • Los Peñasquitos
  • Torrey Pines State Park
  • Annie’s Canyon Trail
  • Lake Poway to Mount Woodson (Potato Chip Rock)
  • San Elijo Lagoon
