Kaboo Del Mar, 2017

Kaaboo Del Mar 2017 was held the weekend of Sept. 15 and had an outstanding lineup of bands and musicians that kept people entertained the entire weekend. The bands who played at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on Saturday included The Knocks, Logic, Machine Gun Kelly, Muse, P!nk, and others.

The Knocks, an electronic music duo, played around 3 p.m. and got the crowd moving with some of their hits such as ‘Trouble’ and ‘Classic’. I had never heard of them before this but was surprised to find that I absolutely loved their music. And I will continue to listen to them in the future. Most of the people at this set were drawn to the stage due to the fact that rapper, Logic, was performing next.

Logic has experienced an extreme boost in popularity since the release of his latest album, “Everybody,” and drew an extremely extensive crowd for what I would consider the best set of the weekend. His performance was so exciting that I lost my voice after the first song he performed. Nevertheless, I continued to hoarsely scream out the lyrics to his songs throughout the concert.

Between concerts, my friend and I got the chance to meet other people around our age and we all decided to spend the rest of our day together. For me this was one of the best parts of the weekend because we became fast friends and are now planning on going to more concerts together in the future.

Later in the night, headliner P!nk put on an exciting performance, from her friend being proposed to on stage to stripping down some of her pop hits to create a more acoustic and moving performance.

P!nk ended her set by flying over the crowd on a trapeze and sending fireworks up into the sky. I was disappointed to have to leave her performance early because she had such an entertaining stage presence and her voice was even better live than in her recorded songs.

In addition to the wide variety of bands, I walked around to observe the many pieces of amazing local art Some of the artists continued to work on their projects as the festival was taking place around them. For me, this created a uniqueness about the whole experience that people wouldn’t be able to find at normal concerts.

I can easily say that Kaaboo 2016 and 2017 were two of the best weekends of my life and I can’t wait to go back for more next year.
