Homecoming Assembly Celebrates SDA

ASB was playing music and dancing as students piled into the gym during homeroom for the first assembly of the year, celebrating SDA’s 20th anniversary.

Freshman Ada Ellisman kicked it off with her performance of the national anthem and won an enthusiastic applause from the audience. Juniors Lawrynce Cecio and Gibran Mustafa MC’d the assembly.

The assembly celebrated this year’s 20th anniversary of San Dieguito Academy by bringing Principal Fran Fenical and founding teachers to the stage. The audience gave the principal a standing ovation for her efforts to better this school by adhering to the needs and desires of the students.

The assembly included both student videos and a student-teacher game (a relay race that ended with a the winners putting a hula hoop around Principal Bjorn Paige); the main event was the presentation of homecoming royalty. All royalty gathered a group of friends and entered the gym with a routine and song of their choice.

Freshmen: Joice He and Slater Finn
Sophomores: Ella Hastings and Gage Clisby
Juniors: Julia Scime and Jack Kulick
Seniors: Jennifer Kerr, Claire Jantzen, Kim Quach, Blake Dewitt, Corban Stewart, Blake Stoner-Osborne, Daniel Magnuson, and Noah Hauptman

Senior Homecoming kings and queens will be announced next Friday, Oct. 28 at the Homecoming dance.

ASB President Zachary Kanzler, senior, said, “The assembly went really well, everything was on time and played out how we hoped it would.”
