ASB Elections

With multiple candidates running for spots on ASB, many students visited the PAC to cast their vote. The results were tallied on Monday night, revealing the future ASB candidates.

Here’s the results:
President- Zachary Kanzler
Vice President- Devon Maguire
Secretary- Camilla Rishmawi
Treasurer- Gabi Gjata
Senior Directors- Oceana Haaland, Camryn Hoffman, Matthew Zounes
Junior Directors- Rami Ibrahim, Josh Lim, Gibran Mustafa
Sophomore Directors- Franchesca Finley, Meagan Glazier, Natasha Gardiner-Feldman

Students were welcomed into the gym Friday Dec 11 to listen and vote for future ASB positions. While some kids were running outside and enjoying rain, most students were listening to speeches given by their fellow ASB classmates. SDA listened to a variety of speeches given by students hoping to win ASB positions such as treasurer, sophomore, junior and senior director, vice president, and president, and secretary.

Some memorable and unexpected speeches from the ASB student council included junior Shay O’Laughlin with his promise to un-ban snapchat from the school wifi, and junior Zach Kanzler with new ideas on preserving SDA artwork. Other speeches included junior Katherine Tarangelo’s plan to preserve SDA tradition and culture.

In an interview with SDA’s new president, Kanzler said “As president there are a lot of projects that I would love to work on, especially making sure new art is still brought on campus.” When asked why he ran for president, Kanzler stated “The most important thing to me is helping my community and my fellow students, and the best way I feel I will be able to do that is to take the role of president so I can make a positive impact on as many people as possible.”
