Two fires broke out at San Dieguito Academy this afternoon, and are being investigated as arson. The fires occurred in the girls bathroom adjacent to the Learning Commons and in the bathroom in the P-Quad. They were both started around 2 p.m.
The fire is being investigated as arson by the fire department, according to Assistant Principal Jeanne Jones, who said the sheriff took a report at the school and is turning it over to an arson investigator. “It was obviously intentional,” she said.
There was no serious damage caused to either of the bathrooms besides toilet paper dispensers which were damaged, Jones said. She said that it is possible that the incident is related to the fire that occurred earlier in the school year in the girls bathroom by the PAC.
