Homecoming Assembly

On Friday, Oct. 23, during what is usually homeroom, an assembly took place in preparation for the Homecoming Dance, which will take place on the 30th. Yoni Kruvi, junior, and Will Fletcher, senior, were the MC’s of the event making the assembly hilarious and interesting.
First, Kruvi came out dressed as pizza, then switched to being dressed up as Mr. Potato Head, and then wore a sweater from Fletcher’s closet, claiming to be “straight up fabulous.”
Then, the National Anthem was sang by Thea Farber, junior, Jenna Steinberg, sophomore, and Rami, sophomore, with four other students signing the lyrics to the song.
Following this, there were many sports clips shown with various interviews from different team members from every sport in season right now. This transitioned to the fast-paced, “Minute-to-Win-It” relay race, in which different students and teachers did activities involving tissues, blowing off cups, and a gumball machine bottle.
After these fun activities that had the audience cheering and shouting, the MC’s announced that next week will be homecoming dress-up week starting with good morning Monday, toned Tuesday, white-out Wednesday, tacky tourist Thursday, and Halloween costume Friday.
The announcement of the annual Homecoming Olympics was then shown, with Lindsay Alter, senior, coming out on a boat with other students to raise for signing up for the Olympic Committee. They announced the first event, Chopped.
Hyping up the audience for all the upcoming events coming to our school, the Student Life video was shown starting with students saying what Disney Channel show they would bring back if they could, then an Oreo challenge was shown having students try to catch an Oreo in their mouth, what teacher that students would want as a parent, and students scaring teachers.
Then, our new Principal, Bjorn Paige, came out to introduce all the new teachers that are now at the school and they all did a hilarious thriller dance leaving the crown in hysteric laughter.
To end the assembly, Rob Ross came out to announce the homecoming court nominees for each grade and it ended with the four couple nominations of the senior class that will be voted for to get the crown of Homecoming Queen and King.
