SDA hosted the 2013 Teen Expo on April 24 during hour lunch. Featured at the expo were a multitude of booths, job listings for students, and food vendors, in addition to a live DJ and an assortment of contests.
The U.S. Army’s booth was one of the more notable exhibitions there, featuring a competition for whoever could do the most pull-ups, with prizes ranging from ARMY STRONG stickers for no pull-ups, to ARMY STRONG t-shirts for those who could do 20 or more. In addition, Emergency Medical Services and the Encinitas Lifeguard both displayed lifesaving equipment as well as their respective emergency vehicles.
Aside from the exhibitions, the Encinitas Parks and Recreation department had over 300 part-time job listings available for students who want to work over summer break. The department also held a raffle, giving away small prizes like hats and sunglasses. In front of the PAC, hula hoops were placed and five dollars were awarded to the people who could hula hoop the longest.
On the food front, Rico’s Taco Shop, Stone Flats Pizza, Hot Dog on a Stick, and Subman all served food and drinks at the Teen Expo
