Due to concerns that the Syrian government is going to use chemical weapons against the rebels, NATO has decided to keep Patriot anti-missile batteries along the border. Syria is believed to have chemical weapons including mustard gas and sarin. Despite the Syrian government’s assurance that they would never use chemical weapons against their own people, intelligence reports have found evidence to the contrary. Rio de Janeiro has been attempting to reduce the crime rate for the upcoming 2012 World Cup and the 2012 Olympics. Sixty police officers in Rio de Janeiro have been arrested for receiving bribes from drug dealers and for taking in part in criminal activities. An estimated 12 are also on the run. President Morsi- supporters attempted to break up a sit-in of protestors outside of the presidential palace in Cairo. Petrol bombs and rocks were thrown, three people were killed, and 350 were injured. Morsi wished to open a dialogue with the protestors, but they have refused. The people are protesting Morsi’s new self-granted powers that severely decrease the powers of the judicial branch during the writing of the new constitution. Three hundred and twenty five people are dead and 375 are missing as Tycoon Bopha tears a path of destruction across the southern Philippines. Protestors marched on the presidential palace in Cairo, still refusing to open a dialogue with President Morsi. Voting for Egyptians living abroad has been postponed until next Wednesday. Supporters of Morsi have declared support for a non-secular government based on Islamic belief and conservatism. Protestors were angered that Morsi has refused to retract his new powers.
