Three police cars patrolled the student parking lot after administrators heard rumors of a fight happening after school on Thursday, Sept. 13.
In addition to the rumors, teachers noticed an increase in the number of kids in the student parking lot last week, said Assistant Principal Jeanne Jones. A parent had also called the school to notify them of a potential safety threat, Principal Tim Hornig said.
Although there were more kids in the parking lot that day, no violence took place. Administrators called the Encinitas Sheriff’s Department as a preventative measure. Though fights are rare at SDA, police presence will lead to a safe campus, Jones said.
According to Jones, preventing fights not only keeps the campus safe but protects the SDA culture students and parents value.
