San Dieguito Academy’s 2010 Presidential and vice presidential candidates answered a couple questions about running for office and their plans for SDA. Voting takes place December 10, 13, and 14 at lunch and after school. Here are their responses.
Evan Eichenberg, running for president
Why are you running?
I am running for president because I want to connect the school. I want each and every student to feel that they can be a part of their school. I want them to be able to use any of their talents to contribute and feel connected. Hopefully by doing this, I can motivate them to contribute more! So my main goal is that I want everyone to feel that they can represent their school, and their school represent them.
What do you plan to do as President?
If I become president, I have one Idea that I really am looking forward to. Once a month, every month, I want to have a day that is dedicated to our students, for our thespians, debaters etc. Each day will be dedicated to each one, so they can show off what they are good at, hopefully making each person feel they are part of their school.
Alex Goldstein, running for president
Why are you running?
I am running because I Love SDA and I love planning events that everyone can get involved in and really enjoy.
What do you plan to do as President?
I would work hard to increase our school’s spirit and listen to everyone’s ideas.
Casey Carlson, running for Vice president
Why are you running?
I am running because I care about making a difference in our school and because I like doing the chores that no one wants to do. ASB is something I truly care about and I want to have the chance to add my own ideas and help lead the school.
What do you plan to do as Vice President?
As vice president, I plan to ask the school what they would like to see from ASB, and try to get everyone involved in making a better place.
Lonnie Safarik, running for vice president
Why are you running?
I am running because this school has been a home and a shelter to me. It means everything, and is priority one! I’m so proud of everything SDA is and will become. I would be honored to hold an executive ranking that would help our school become better than it already is.
What do you plan to do as Vice President?
With being involved with a plentiful of clubs, I’ve come to learn that there are some clubs that have problems with ASB. The clubs of SDA are what make us so unique, I believe. They are how our social networking conducts. As vice president, I would make it my goal to go to all the clubs of SDA and question them about their problems. Then I would build off of what they have said and do my best to eliminate their troubles. I want what the students of the school want. All I hope for is to make people happy.
Rachel Weinfield, running for Vice president
Why are you running?
I have already been in the ASB class for two semesters and I really wanted to step up and take a bigger role and be a leader of the class.
What do you plan to do as Vice President?
I want to bring our school together and get more participation in events form everyone at the school.
