Participants discussed parking, school communication and homeroom activities at the second meeting of the forum on Oct. 13.
Students expressed concern about parent drivers in the student parking lot, parking in spots and blocking traffic. The idea was brought up for administrators to communicate more with parents to keep them out of the student lot. Principal Michael Grove added that administrators will try to communicate to the parents that the gate on Bonita is open every day, creating another safe place to drop off students.
ASB brought up the issue that students are uninformed about school events and that homeroom announcements are ineffective. It was suggested that the ASB students present their information in shorter, more interactive methods. Also, a favorite idea of the participants was to have students twirl signs or wear sign boards to advertise events was brought up by teacher George Stimson.
Another issue discussed was homeroom activities. The idea of setting up long term homeroom challenges, such as a creating a music video, was brought up. Entries could be judged and shared through SDA Live. Students also suggested that clubs could sponsor a homeroom for different challenges.
