John Green Writes Again

A recent Facebook post has sent John Green fans into speculative excitement:

“When writing is fun, there is nothing else like it. It’s the best high I’ve ever had.”

What is this? Is Green, author of popular Young Adult novels “The Fault in Our Stars” and “Looking for Alaska,” starting another project? In other words, oh my gawd, could he be writing another amazing novel?

Who knows at this point in time? As many fiction writers know, myself included, anything longer than a chapter is a load of work and time and energy and sweat and tears. It took Green 10 years to write “The Fault in Our Stars” (or TFiOS for short), so any hope of a new novel debuting at the same time as the movie adaptation of TFiOS is not realistic. At the same time, there is a growing trend showing that Green publishes a novel approximately every two years – TFiOS was published in 2012, and “Will Grayson Will Grayson” was released in 2010.

Nonetheless, Green fans can rest assured that their favorite author is at it again. If it will end in novel-hood or in the bin, no one knows. But we can hope. And dream. And continue to write fan fiction.
