The Tale of Daniel Spiegel
“Well, probably the craziest thing we have done is to hike/climb all day in 100+ degree weather with definitely not enough water to the tallest and largest curved wooden trestle ever built in the country. This was on one of our camping trips in the Anza-Borrego, and we have returned to it since then, though in considerably better weather and with better preparation,” said Spiegel.
The Tale of Cole Teza
“Our craziest adventure is tied between our second adventure and one of our desert trips. Our second adventure we went river rafting with Wal-Mart pool rafts and ended up popping them and getting stuck in the middle of swamp for three hours or so until we gained the energy to hike out.”
“On our desert trip we experienced car troubles, broken gear and, yes, even law enforcement. The rumors are true. One of our members who would prefer to go unnamed was caught with a potato launching device and got into a situation that almost ended up in him going to jail. We talked to the officer and we were kicked out from the state park. Since the incident our club has improved and has begun researching before exploring unknown territory,” said Teza.
The Tale of Emily Nathan
“My favorite adventure has definitely got to be the hike to potato chip rock. I liked the hike itself of course, but what I really liked was the diversity of students there. I was expecting to see only the core members there, but people who had scarcely spoken to one another at school were walking together and acting like they were best friends. It was honestly one of the most amazing experiences of my senior year because of the sheer diversity and cohesion of the group. But even further, the hike was a lot of fun, and we managed to fit over 20 people on potato chip rock! It was perfectly clear too, so when we reached the summit, we could see so far out as we ate our lunches,” said Nathan.
