Reopening survey released

Do you want to go back on January 4?

November 17, 2020

NOVEMBER 16– the administration released a survey to all parents of San Dieguito High School students asking whether their student would like to return to school on-campus for one day a week beginning on Jan. 4, 2021.

However, according to a letter released by Principal Adam Camacho, this date is subject to change, “given the fluid nature of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

This reopening survey is open from Nov 16 to Nov 30 at 4:00 PM, where the survey will then be closed. A parent can change their response to the survey at any moment leading up to the survey’s closure on Nov. 30. If no response is recorded for a student by that time, then that student will remain in the current distance-learning model by default.

It is important to note that a parent must fill out this survey on behalf of their student– a student cannot fill it out for themself.

The response to this survey is considered a firm agreement and cannot be altered past the Nov 30 deadline. However, “families who initially choose at-school learning can return to 100% at-home learning at any time,” said Camacho. This change can be made through emailing the Attendance Office.

Additionally, a parent can decide to withhold their student’s return to campus until Quarter 3 begins, keeping them in the current distance-learning model through the end of Quarter 2 if they so desire.

A question and answer session covering the return to in-person schooling is happening later today at 5:15 pm and is open to both parents and students. If you prefer to call in, dial 419-607-9081 and use the PIN 320 517 066#.

Information on how students will be grouped for on-campus education, the modified bell schedule, and an overview of safety precautions for students and staff can be found in this letter and video.
