Realizations I have made in quarantine
April 3, 2020
There’s been a lot of time to think these past few weeks, especially when my entire routine is out of whack. And, there’s quite a few things I’ve realized.
Firstly, I’ve begun to accept the fact that I dress and look good for other people. Often, we tell ourselves our appearance is for us, rather than to appease others. But, without school and other public events, I’ve retired to my stained sweatpants and oversized shirts. Based on facetimes and Snapchat private stories, so has everyone else, excluding the girls who dress up to take timer selfies, of course. So, I’m planning to be more honest with myself; my appearance is for others. Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with that, as long as it doesn’t get too out of hand. I’ll try to focus on my own comfort moving forward because that’s the only opinion that matters when it comes to how I present myself.
Also, my “overkill” cleaning habits were actually for the best. To all those people who made fun of me for disinfecting my doorknobs and light switches everyday, look at you now. It’s crazy that it took a pandemic for everyone to finally realize how many germs there are everywhere. Seriously, I mean EVERYWHERE. The other day my mom made me disinfect the frozen pizza boxes. Apparently Corona thrives in the cold, so beware of your freezer.
Finally, I think everyone’s starting to determine if they truly are introverts or not. I hate to brag, but I’m definitely one of them. “Corona-cation” really isn’t affecting my sanity that much. Granted, I didn’t have that much sanity to start with. But, I’ve managed to make myself busy. I would highly recommend getting a paint by number kit. Yes, they take a ton of time, but guess what? You have the time.
We will all get through this, don’t worry. We’re in this for the long haul, but we’re in it together.
