Stickerless cars: the Consequences
February 27, 2020
Based on personal experience, not having a parking permit sticker has some serious downsides, the most obvious being the fact that you’re not allowed to park in the student lots. It’s a pretty common theme that students will try to avoid these regulations, including myself.
I can say with confidence that there are a few ways you can trick Jonathon and Leslie. But, what are willing to risk? Owing almost $150 to the school, like I do? Let me tell you, it’s not worth it.
When I got my first ticket, I was irrationally angry. I deserved the ticket, but I still attempted to lie and have it appealed to no prevail. The second one came, and my bank account was weakening. Without a job and no upcoming birthday or Christmas money, I was left defenseless. At this point, I had lost motivation to continue fighting. I finally caved and got my permit sticker. Yes, I had to go to a class, fill out an online questionnaire, and track down Leslie to hand stick the sticker on my front windshield.
With my shiny new red sticker, I returned to go park in the front lot. I realized I had taken up a visitor spot, but considering I had a sticker I didn’t think much of it. Jonathon had noticed my car due to the previous tickets, however. He’d seen me park illegally too many times, and he had all the right to ticket me for parking in the wrong spot.
After all three of my tickets, I had no money, no ability to buy lunch off campus, but at least I finally learned my lesson that the steps to obtain a parking permit are well worth it.
