Campus deals with student death
May 23, 2019
On Monday, May 20, San Dieguito Academy teachers announced to their classes that a fellow SDA student died by suicide on Saturday. ASB is inviting all students and staff to wear yellow for suicide awareness on Friday in light of the event.
Also, students are creating benches out of painted skateboard decks as a memorial to the student and have collected several decks from close friends, alumni, and McGill’s Skateshop, said Angela Jackson, art teacher. They plan on building at least two benches.
Principal Adam Camacho and SDUHSD Superintendent Robert Haley sent out emails to families about the death. “If you know of a student or anyone who needs support or immediate attention, please take action as every life is precious,” Haley urged. The emails listed resources for students to use;
