An unauthorized student was able to breach the district’s databanks last week. Though the student gained access to basic directory information such as names, addresses, and school selections, no confidential information was leaked, according to SDUHSD Superintendent Robert Haley.

An email was sent out to SDUHSD parents on Friday, March 8, informing them of the situation. No parents contacted the district about the notice, Haley said.

The student and the method used to breach the system have since been found, Haley said. Both the student and their parents have already met with district officials, though the specifics are confidential, he said.

Haley addressed student concerns about the integrity of the security system stating that the district is always working on cyber security.

“We take the security of our information very seriously,” Haley said. “We are always seeking new ways to add layers of protection.”
