SDUHSD Promotes Suicide Awareness
November 7, 2018
SDUHSD is hosting two presentations designed to improve communication between parents and children in order raise awareness for self-harm and suicide prevention. The topic of suicide was discussed at a San Dieguito Academy forum last Friday. Both event nights will be led by Stan Collins, suicide prevention specialist at the San Diego County Suicide Prevention Council. Collins has over 19 years experience in the field and has educated and trained a wide range of over 650,000 adults and youth on the matter, according to an SDUHSD press release.
Each presentation will begin with introductions and transition to a message from superintendent Dr. Robert A. Haley before Collins speaks on suicide awareness and related community resources.
The presentations will occur on the following dates and locations:
Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Canyon Crest Academy, 5:45-8:00 pm
Wednesday, Nov. 14 at La Costa Canyon High School, 5:45-8:00 pm
