You’ll Go Loco for “Coco”
November 1, 2017
“Coco” is about a young Mexican boy named Miguel who dreams of becoming a professional musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz, his great great grandpa. The movie takes place in the land of the dead where all our loved ones go after they die.
As Miguel explores more about the land of the dead, he discovers more about his family history. One of the images shown in movie is an altar in the graveyard. Altars in Mexico are decorated with flowers, bread, candy, drinks, tamales, and, of course, mole. “Coco” did a great job in getting all these details because in most movies they leave out the most important thing about day of the dead, which is the altar.
“Coco” has done a great job in delivering the true traditions of Mexico during the day of the dead, from the images being bright and colorful to the music they picked out for the movie. If you enjoyed the movie “The Book of Life,” then you’ll enjoy “Coco.”
