Jane Apple Garrison, Class of ’64
Q: Did you enjoy attending San Dieguito?
Garrison: Oh, yeah, for the social aspect.
Q: How has the school changed?
Garrison: When we were here, the gym, which was also the stage, we…had one trampoline… so for gym, if it was raining, we all just fought over the trampoline
Q: Why did you decide to visit today?
Garrison: The founders, it’s just kind of neat. I love the whole aspect. I bought a brick and I want to see if it’s… [near] the bell tower.”
Q: What kinds of San Dieguito traditions were there when you were here?
Garrison: We had bonfires for football games… and we had a mascot that was a horse for the football games… I think we were the first year that did that.
Q: What clubs were you a part of? Extracurriculars?
Garrison: I was a cheerleader… that took up a lot of time and that’s because we [were at] basketball [and] football. And I have to say that cheerleaders … were not people that could do anything wrong, because if you did anything wrong, you were kicked off the squad.”
Q: What are some of your most memorable memories here?
Garrison: I had a lot of really good teachers. I had teachers that broadened me to like things I didn’t think I’d like, like reading. We had a really good Spanish teacher… people would make outfits [for home economics] and we’d have a fashion show.”
