Chargers Column Week Four
It was a big win for the Chargers this week against the Dallas Cowboys. The victory kept San Diego from tying for third against the Oakland Raiders in standings. (The Chargers are now 2-2 in the standings.) After looking at stats from Sunday’s game, it is obvious that Head Coach Mike McCoy’s offensive strategy is the right fit for the Chargers.
For instance, McCoy is running a no huddle offense which gives quarterback Phillip Rivers extra time to choose a play, assess the defensive strategy and adjust accordingly. With a total of 506 yards compared to the Cowboys 317 total yards, it is clear that this offensive shift in strategy is paying off.
The pairing of McCoy and Rivers seems to be a perfect match. With 401 passing yards, 2013 may be Rivers’ best season yet if he keeps up his performance. This coming Sunday, San Diego is up against the Oakland raiders. The Chargers should expect Oakland, which is 1-3, to give it their all in order to get back in the competition as far as standings.
