These days there is so much more to singers than singing. Celebrities are always endorsing various products such as perfumes and purses, and now Katy Perry has designed her own collection of nail polish for OPI. “Katy Perry came up with the idea because she has a cool different style”, said junior Maddy Overlock. Whether you adore Katy or not, this nail polish collection is worth buying. The only person giving her nail polish any competition is Justin Beiber. He created a new OPI collection under their Nicole brand, featuring different shades. “One Last Lonely Glitter” is just one simple example of the nail polishes he has endorsed. However, Katy’s nail polish collection is much better than Justin’s collection for many reasons. It is not just because Katy Perry is a lady, and Justin Beiber is a man (which is a questionable observation in any case.)
Katy Perry’s nail polishes include shades such as a plummy pink sparkle called Teenage Dream. Its unique name is inspired by her hit song “Teenage Dream.” As Katy sings about in that song, Teenage Dream nail polish will make you feel ‘pretty without any make-up on’ except nail polish obviously. The metallic silver color called Not Like The Movies, ensures that you’ll never ‘feel like a plastic bag drifting through the wind’ again, as she sings about in her song “Fireworks.”
A particularly beautiful color is Last Friday Night which shines like bright blue crayons dipped in star dust. If the sun were to pour light directly onto your nails while they are painted with this glittery lacquer, it is likely you will see fireworks, reminiscent of the fireworks that explode out of Katy’s chest in her music video for her hit song “Fireworks.” Don’t even get me started on The One That Got Away with its rich purple berry-licious color. Your fruity nails are a nutritional part of a healthy breakfast.
However, the queen of the scene concerning Katy’s collection isn’t any of those foxy colors. The Shattered nail polish wins the crown without the other nail polishes so much as tilting their black caps in dismay. It’s an evolutionary moment for nail polishes everywhere. Junior Xana Young said, “I’ve seen a lot of people wearing Shattered nail polish, and I personally like it.”
Paint this lovely black color on your nails (after they have already been painted a bright color and dried), and the nail polish will subdivide into a pattern resembling shattered glass right before your eyes. “I think it’s a fun and creative idea; it makes painting your nails more interesting! I’m not sure I would buy my own though because using it once was enough,” said junior Sophie Bandstra. Whether you want to wear it once or every single day, you’ll feel a thrill as the pattern appears. It’s just like magic.
