Geometric patterns and funky mod-inspired designs flowed effortlessly down the runway at Diane von Furstenberg’s spring 2011 runway show for New York Fashion Week on September 13, 2010. The collection’s palette consisted of luxurious jewel tones patterned elaborately with more subtle tones of white, black, and various shades of grey. Aside from the brilliantly designed graphics of each look, one ongoing trend throughout the entire show was the elaborate and stunning draping. Silky material was especially prominent and folded beautifully. Many dresses upheld an almost toga-like silhouette, draped freely but belted at the waist. Jackets and coats were sleek but still structured, and pants were lightweight and fit almost boyishly loosely.
Shoes also emulated Gladiator styled sandals at times, but were mainly cut-out in geometrics, often hitting right above the ankle.
Regarding make-up and hair, models were au natural with the exception of lips. The lip color was an almost orangey bright fuchsia emulating an Andy Warhol silk screen.
