“The Walking Dead” Preview
Fans of the “The Walking Dead” can rejoice: the second half of the fifth season of the hit television show is coming back.
The second half of the season will show the group dealing with the death of Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) and will address the presence of Morgan (Lennie James) at the church belonging to Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) that the group had vacated prior to the ending of “Coda.”
The trailers for the new half of the season seem to focus on the concept of hope. They focus on group shots, showing that the group will try to stick together, drawn closer together by Beth’s death.
The characters also discuss finding a “safe zone” in the trailers, with Michonne (Danai Gurira) saying, “It’s a chance. Instead of just being out here, instead of just making it.”
Survival is another concept discussed heavily in the trailers, and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) talks about the group needing to do what they have to do to survive.
Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) also appears in the trailer, alone and crying. The upcoming half-season will hopefully deal with her reaction to Beth’s death, especially because she seemed to be too preoccupied with Glenn (Steven Yeun) to remember her sister.
The new half-season seems to have plenty of action, mixed in with more character development. The group is at a low point, and it will be interesting to see them move on from where they are. The new half-season airs Feb. 8 on AMC.
