May 24, 2023
“Spiderman: Across the Spider Verse”
A sequel to the beloved film, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” known for its unique animation style, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is set to release in theaters June 2, 2023. The movie features the same protagonist, Miles Morales, voiced by Shameik Moore, as he has to balance his normal teenage responsibilities with his duties as friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. He eventually joins Gwen Stacy, or Spider-Woman, and a team of the best Spider-People across the multiverse as they fight to save the entire multiverse. After the success of the first film, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is sure to be a hit.
“Asteroid City”
Arguably one of the most exciting films to be released this summer is Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City.” Scheduled to be released in all theaters on June 23rd, “Asteroid City,” set in the desert in 1955, follows an annual Junior Stargazer convention and the disruptive events that transpire. Combining his signature film style with a compelling story and a star-studded cast, including Tom Hanks and Margot Robbie, Anderson has set this film up to be a sweeping success.
“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”
A fan-favorite franchise “Indiana Jones” is back with a new movie “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” starring Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones and Phoebe Waller-Bridge as his goddaughter, Helena Shaw. The film, set to be released in theaters on June 30th, follows Ford and Shaw as they seek a dial that can change history and have to face-off a former Nazi in the late 1960s. This film is sure to be an entertaining watch, especially for longtime fans of the iconic “Indiana Jones” series.
“Barbie”
Already generating a lot of buzz, “Barbie,” directed by Greta Gerwig, may be the movie of the summer. Even with high-energy and a vibrant color palette, fans are speculating that the film may highlight a darker side of the “Barbie” franchise. The film follows Barbie, played by Margot Robbie, after she is thrown out of Barbieland for not being a perfect-looking doll, and now tries to find true happiness in the human world. “Barbie” will be released on July 23rd in theaters.
“Oppenheimer”
Released on the same day as “Barbie,” “Oppenheimer” centers the Manhattan Project and the development of an atomic bomb during World War II. Based on the biography “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer,” the film follows Oppenheimer and a team of scientists as they invent the first nuclear weapons. Directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Cillian Murphy, “Oppenheimer” and “Barbie” are sure to have big competition in the box office.
