Ever since his last release in 2014, fans have been patiently waiting for a new Childish Gambino album. The time has finally come as he releases his third studio album “Awaken, My Love!” This album is very different from anything that he has ever put out before mainly because he doesn’t have one verse of rap. Because of this, some die-hard Gambino fans are very upset since they were expecting a new rap masterpiece. Therefore, Gambino is taking a huge risk by steering away from his roots and taking on something he has never done before.

He decided to make a Soul/R&B album, which has never been done before by a big name hip hop artist to this extreme. After downloading it myself, I was very skeptical but excited for this new album because I had never listened to something like this before. After listening to the first couple tracks, I became lost in the catchy beats and soulful lyrics. It was something I had never experienced before while listening to music. It leaves people alone in their thoughts and lost in his beautiful voice.

Therefore, I can say with confidence that this album is a masterpiece. It is unlike anything our generation has ever heard before and it gives me a completely new experience. In addition, the thing that amazes me the most about this album is how much you can listen to it and still be amazed. Every time I listen to this album I figure out something new and slowly figure out the meaning of the album. Hopefully Gambino can keep creating masterpieces like this, but with his busy schedule this could be the last one for a while.
