Fear the Walking Dead: Episode 106 “The Good Man”
In this thrilling season finale to a successful spin-off series to “The Walking Dead,” stakes are raised and the end leaves much to look forward to in season two.
After the main crew leaves their camp, they head to the hospital where the military took Nick and Griselda. Their plan is to bombard the troops at the camp with a horde of zombies, while they sneak by and escape with the two they rescued.
After a long and perilous trek through the hospital, which is crawling with zombies, the group is reunited and they make a slim escape. However, Nick’s friend, the mysterious “Strand”, goes with the group.
When they confront a military soldier as they are trying to get away, Travis, the father, takes violent action for once, by beating the soldier into unconsciousness in order to escape. The show hints at the idea that this is what he must succumb to in order to survive among all this chaos.
Once they escape, they head to Strand’s beachside home, where they relax for a bit. However, Liza, Travis’s ex-wife and Chris’s mother, reveals that she has been bitten. She knows that there is no coming back from a bite, and is ready to kill herself. In an epic and emotional ending, Travis is the one to pull the trigger in an ending that is packed with emotion and sadness, as the group mourns on the beach with the beautiful sunset in the background.
Strand lets Nick know that he plans to escape to sea on his boat, and the possibility of survival for the group is optimistic, as the season closes to a fly-by shot of the vast ocean.
Overall, season one of “Fear the Walking Dead” was a great addition to the popular zombie TV show craze. It took an interesting route, gradually perpetuating the characters into the apocalypse, as opposed to throwing the fans right into the middle of it like in the original show. The fact that the fans know more about what is happening than the characters makes it all the more interesting and engaging.
With much to look forward to next season, fans now shift their attention to the main show, “The Walking Dead” as it will begin season 6next Sunday at 9 p.m. on AMC.
