The San Dieguito Academy performance ‘SNL’  earned some laughs on their opening night Thursday. The performance was made up of skits taken from past episodes of the popular NBC TV show “Saturday Night Live” and included trademark aspects from the original show. Actors were introduced with the typical excitatory show host voice as students ran onto the stage, and during the transitions from skit to skit, the audience enjoyed a small live jazz band.

The show included a variety of beloved classics and recent hit sketches. Oldies included favorites such as “Spartan Cheerleaders,” “Get Off The Shed,” and “Blue Oyster Cult (More Cowbell),” and student actors perfectly impersonated current stars like Kristen Wiig and Amy Poehler in “Target Lady” and “Walmart Greeters.” A musical performance was also given, and seniors Ben Ellerbrock and Carly Strait gave a Weekend Update mash-up.

Overall, the Drama Production class’s efforts proved fruitful and the Drama department  put together yet another lovely show.
