Senior Riley Galleher won the SDA talent show on March 14. Galleher, along with other SDA students showed off their talents which ranged from singing to dancing and even a comedy stand-up routine. The sold-out show was an entertaining experience for the audience members.
First place went to Senior Riley Galleher who performed an original song called “In Memory of.” “Recently my grandpa died, and while he was in the hospital I had written this song for him,” said Galleher. She sang and played the guitar.
Rachel Dovsky, a freshman, came in second place with a performance of “Someone like you” in which she sang and played the piano.
Junior Jacob Gonzales got third place with a comedy routine entitled “Somewhat funny stand-up.”
The talents were received well by the audience who often clapped along to the songs and laughed at the comedy. Junior Adira Fogel said Gonzales’s routine “was funny and engaging,” and that he had “a good stage presence.”
Having a talent is one thing, but performing is often seen as something scary. When asked what she liked about it, Galleher said, “I like performing because it puts me outside my comfort zone and forces me to remain calm even when inside I’m freaking out.”
