What happens when an adventurous child and her babysitter collide with the whimsical world of cartoons and fairytales? Find out next week on Oct. 5, when Drama Production’s play, “Super Potato: The Secret Life of a Cartoon Junkie” opens.
“Super Potato” follows the story of a child named Teri, played by Peri Anderson, junior, and her babysitter, Jamie, played by junior Kaitlin Kay, in their adventures as they are introduced to the world of cartoons through one of Teri’s favorite cartoon characters, Lloyd ( freshman Jewels Weinberg). Lloyd introduces Teri and Jamie to the Fairy Tale Recycling Center, where they help in the re-telling of many beloved fairy tales such as The Boy Who Cried Wolf and Rumplestilskin.
A unique aspect of this play is that some audience members are selected during each showing of the play to participate in the adventure. All audience members are invited to volunteer to be part of the production. “Super Potato” is appropriate for all ages, so bring the family.
Tickets are available in the finance office or online through the SDA Theatre website. Tickets are $8 for students and $15 for adults, and are available for the Friday, Oct. 5 showing at 7 p.m. as well as the Saturday, Oct. 6 showings at 3 and 7 p.m. The play runs at SDA at the Clayton E. Liggett Theatre.
