The Oscar nominations were announced Monday, and it looks like it’s “Hugo”’s TIME to shine, it’s written in BLACK AND WHITE that “The Artist” is set up for a win, and it’s NAY that War Horse will lose. Aside from the painful puns, the Oscar nominations this year went as expected – most of the movies recognized in the recent Golden Globes are also on the list of Oscar nominees. Some other films with a large number of nominations were Woody Allen’s nostalgia fueled “Midnight in Paris,” the rich 1960’s film “The Help” that was predicted to be an Oscar front runner from the beginning, and the sci-fi-slash-coming-of-age-film “The Tree of Life.” The wide variety of films competing for Oscars this year might make for some unexpected wins, and definitely some quality television.
