“My friend was working on one for college so I thought why not here? They’re really sick,” said Steven Forsythe, senior, when asked about his inspiration to create an internet radio for SDA called SDA Air. He’s even paying $50 for it out of his own pocket. “It’s slightly expensive but I have a job, so it’s okay. Hopefully, we’ll get some revenue from club donations,” said Forsythe.
Students will all be able to join Forsythe’s club and become hosts on the radio. “We’re going to have a bunch of DJs but we don’t know about guests yet,” said Forsythe. Junior Patrick Mattioli will be his partner for SDA Air and he will also be a DJ. Mattioli said, “After Steven graduates next year I’ll keep working with the radio.”
Students can even call in to the radio. “We actually set up call-in’s already! We’ll be able to stream in live,” said Forsythe. There is a phone number listed on the website and students may also go on Forsythe’s facebook forum to recommend music.
The radio was scheduled to air on Oct. 1, at www.sdaair.com! In other words, you can go on the website and listen today. Forsythe hopes SDA Air will be a school sponsored club.
SDA Air will be covering music. Mat and Kim are musical artists that are a particular favorite of Forsythe. “The main thing for our radio will be music. We can’t say for certain yet, whether we’ll be able to stream live music created by students. We hope to have student bands,” said Forsythe.
